Caitlin Clark Claims Rivalries Boost Sports Ahead of Fever's Opener Against Sky

Caitlin Clark emphasizes the importance of rivalries in sports while preparing for the Indiana Fever's season opener against the Chicago Sky.

INDIANAPOLIS – Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever kicked off their 2025 season with a match against Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky, a rivalry featuring five meetings this season—the most between any two teams this summer.

“Yeah, I mean, you guys love it, that’s for sure,” Clark quipped when asked about the rivalry before the game. While she downplayed the narrative, she acknowledged its significance: “Rivalry is great for sport. I understand that; I grew up loving rivalries in Iowa, especially the Iowa-Iowa State matchup.”

Clark also expressed her understanding of the fans’ enthusiasm: “For the fans, it’s great, they love it. Chicago is our closest team geographically.”

Despite the hype, Clark and the Fever remain focused on their broader goals for the season. “As a player, you should approach every game the same way, preparing for whoever you face, whether they’re first or last in the league. It’s all about consistency,” Clark reflected.
