New York City Renames Streets After Knicks Players to Honor Their Playoff Journey

NYC celebrates the Knicks' path to the Eastern Conference Finals by temporarily co-naming streets after players.

The excitement in New York City is palpable as the Knicks prepare for their first Eastern Conference Finals in 25 years. Streets across Manhattan are being temporarily renamed in honor of Knicks players as a tribute to their playoff success.

“The Knicks embody the spirit of New York — resilient, passionate, and unstoppable,” stated New York City Mayor Eric Adams. “On the path to a championship, we recognize the hard work and determination that has gotten this team to the Eastern Conference Finals. We’re celebrating this team by temporarily co-naming our city streets so all New Yorkers can celebrate their Knicks pride. Nearly 8.5 million New Yorkers, and countless more, support the New York Knicks as they continue this incredible journey.”

All 15 roster players will have streets named after them, correlating with their jersey numbers. For instance, the sign for “Jalen Brunson Boulevard” will be located at West 11th Street and Seventh Avenue, corresponding to Brunson’s No. 11.

The signs will remain up for the duration of the Knicks’ current playoff run, showcasing players’ names in orange on blue signs along with their jersey numbers.

The Knicks aim for their first NBA title since 1973 and will host the Indiana Pacers in Game 1 at Madison Square Garden this Wednesday night.
