MVP Award Announcement Tonight: Gilgeous-Alexander and Jokić Lead the Race
The NBA will reveal the MVP for the 2024-25 season, with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Nikola Jokić as top contenders.
The NBA has released the finalists for its major awards for the 2024-25 season, and the announcement of the MVP winner is finally here. The 2025 MVP will be revealed tonight at 7 p.m. ET on TNT, just ahead of Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals between the New York Knicks and Indiana Pacers.
The MVP finalists are:
- Giannis Antetokounmpo, Forward, Milwaukee Bucks
- Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Guard, Oklahoma City Thunder
- Nikola Jokić, Center, Denver Nuggets
Gilgeous-Alexander is predicted to win, boasting a remarkable season with the Thunder, achieving 68 wins and securing the top playoff seed. He led the league with an impressive 32.7 points per game, along with 5 rebounds and a career-high 6.4 assists per game.
As for Jokić, he had a historic season, averaging a triple-double with 29.6 points, 12.7 rebounds, and 10.6 assists. This recognition is significant as it places him among legends like Oscar Robertson and Russell Westbrook.
If Gilgeous-Alexander earns the award, he would join Kevin Durant (2014) and Russell Westbrook (2017) as the only Thunder players to receive the MVP title.
Should Jokić win, he would become part of an elite group with four MVP awards, joining the likes of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Michael Jordan, and LeBron James.
