The Atlanta Dream were aiming to reach a .500 record this season as they faced the Dallas Wings. At halftime, they were leading by seven points, but star center Brittney Griner was visibly frustrated.
Griner had already recorded 10 points and 5 rebounds by the half, but an offensive foul called against her moments before the break was on her mind. As she walked to the locker room, she paused for an interview with CBS Sports Network, but her temper flared as she voiced her frustrations to the referees regarding the foul call.
Griner halted the interview, expressing her dissatisfaction, finishing with a pointed “be f—ing better!” before returning to answer media questions. This marked a rare instance where a player would end a TV interview to address officiating.
Griner’s bold moment
After her confrontation with the referees, Griner finished the game with 15 points and 8 rebounds, helping the Dream secure an 83-75 victory over the Wings.
In subsequent play, the Dream displayed a strong performance, extending their lead heading into the fourth quarter and ultimately improving their record to 2-2.
