Chelsea has made history by becoming the first men’s team to win all three major European competitions after a 4-1 defeat of Real Betis in the UEFA Conference League final held on Tuesday in Poland. Betis opened the scoring just nine minutes into the match with a goal from winger Abdessamad Ezalzouli, but Chelsea fought back in the second half with goals from Enzo Fernandez and Nicolas Jackson, both assisted by Cole Palmer, followed by further goals from Jadon Sancho and Moises Caicedo.
Manager Enzo Maresca urged Jackson to make up for his earlier suspension, and he delivered a pivotal goal. Following Sancho’s decisive goal, Chelsea celebrated a season that not only ended with a trophy but also with their return to Champions League football, finishing in the Premier League’s top four.
Despite a slow start, Chelsea regained control of the game thanks to strong performances, particularly from goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen, which clinched the trophy. The Blues will now prepare for the Club World Cup starting on June 14 in the United States, aiming for further success.
Are Chelsea back?
Achieving this title with the youngest team in the Premier League signals expectations of continued improvement. For several players, this victory marks their first significant trophy, a challenge in itself. Changes are anticipated, but with promising talents like Cole Palmer, who excelled this season with 15 goals and 11 assists, momentum is on Chelsea’s side. Holding significant potential, they must continue to progress.
