Dodgers Deliver Historic Blowout Against Yankees to Secure Series Win

In a stunning performance, the Dodgers overwhelmed the Yankees with an 18-2 victory, marking the Yankees' largest margin of defeat by a National League team.

The Los Angeles Dodgers triumphed over the New York Yankees with a staggering 18-2 victory on Saturday, clinching the series win. This match marked a historic defeat for the Yankees, making it their worst loss against a National League team in franchise history, as noted by Katie Sharp.

In the face of such heavy losses, the Yankees have historically only experienced a 16-run defeat a dozen times throughout their franchise’s history, underscoring the significance of this game. The Dodgers took an early lead with four runs in the first inning, followed by six runs in the second, taking advantage of starting pitcher Will Warren, resulting in him leaving the game after just 1⅓ innings.

Max Muncy hit his 200th and 201st career home runs during this offensive explosion. Rookie Dalton Rushing made a mark as well, hitting his first career home run off the Yankees’ utility player Pablo Reyes, who ended up pitching in a desperate attempt to salvage the game for New York.

Kiké Hernández also contributed by securing the final out in the top of the ninth inning as a relief pitcher. Dodgers right-hander Landon Knack had a stellar performance on the mound, allowing only one run over six innings with six strikeouts.

Meanwhile, Yankees slugger Aaron Judge managed to hit two home runs, bringing his season total to 21, tying him with Shohei Ohtani and Cal Raleigh as the only players with over 20 home runs thus far in 2025.

Despite the loss, the Yankees enter June with a 5.5-game lead in the American League East and boast the best run differential in the league, although their recent defeat has narrowed that margin significantly. The Dodgers, currently leading the National League West, will be aiming for a series sweep against the Yankees on Sunday night.
