Olympic Champion Gabby Thomas Calls Out Bets Harassment Following Track Meet Incident

Gabby Thomas has spoken out against a sports bettor who harassed her at a recent track event, prompting an investigation.

Gabby Thomas, a three-time Olympic champion, publicly condemned a sports bettor on social media for verbally harassing her during the Grand Slam Track Meet in Philadelphia last weekend. The individual allegedly followed her around, hurling insults while she interacted with fans, predominantly children.

“This grown man followed me around the track as I took pictures and signed autographs for fans (mostly children) shouting personal insults,” Thomas tweeted. “Anyone supporting him online is disgusting.”

The bettor shared a video on social media where he could be seen heckling Thomas ahead of the women’s 100-meter dash, specifically insulting her performance and expressing bias toward another athlete based on race. Despite the provocation, Thomas finished fourth in the race and third in the women’s short sprints overall.

In another tweet, Thomas stated, “The heckling is tolerable, but it’s [the] following me around the stadium that’s wild,” she noted.

The Grand Slam Track organization has initiated a thorough investigation regarding this unacceptable behavior, vowing to identify the culprit and apply necessary measures. They stated, “Let us be clear, despicable behavior like this will not be tolerated.”

Recognized as one of the leading sprint athletes in the USA, Thomas has previously secured gold medals in various categories at the Paris Olympics and other international competitions. Recently, she disclosed how she has experienced repeated confrontations from disruptive fans at airports across multiple cities.
