The 2025 edition of the WNBA Commissioner’s Cup is now live, with the reigning champion Minnesota Lynx taking a strong start by defeating the Golden State Valkyries by double digits. In addition, the previous year’s runner-up, New York Liberty, delivered a stunning performance against the Connecticut Sun.

Over the next couple of weeks, the Commissioner’s Cup will capture everyone’s attention. The next matches to watch include the Indiana Fever playing against the Washington Mystics and the Lynx facing the Phoenix Mercury, the latter of whom has been showing promising results this season.

Tournament Format

Each team will compete against every other team in their conference once from June 1 to June 17. Teams in the Eastern Conference will play five games, whereas each Western Conference team will play six due to the Valkyries’ introduction. The two teams with the best records at the end of the Cup will meet for the championship game on July 1, with a prize pool of $500,000 up for grabs.
