Kylian Mbappe has been admitted to the hospital with acute gastroenteritis, the club has announced. This incident comes after his absence from Real Madrid’s opening match in the FIFA Club World Cup, where they managed to draw 1-1 against Al-Hilal in Xabi Alonso’s first game as coach.
Real Madrid released a statement saying, “Our player Kylian Mbappé is suffering from an acute case of gastroenteritis and has been admitted to hospital in order to undergo a series of tests and follow the appropriate course of treatment.”
Although there is no specified timeline for his return, recovering from gastroenteritis can take over a week, which could potentially mean missing the upcoming match against Pachuca. Mbappe had an impressive debut season with 31 goals.
With him sidelined, it may take longer for Alonso to integrate the full squad, as Gonzalo Garcia, who started against Al-Hilal, scored the team’s only goal. Upcoming matches include a fixture against Pachuca before facing RB Salzburg on June 26, currently leading Group H after their win over Pachuca.
