Kyle Van Noy, linebacker for the Baltimore Ravens, has secured 55.5 sacks throughout his career, culminating in a standout performance last season where he recorded 12.5 sacks and made his first Pro Bowl appearance. Despite this success, he has yet to sack Aaron Rodgers and is eager to change that as they become divisional rivals once again.
This month, Rodgers signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers, which gives Van Noy two chances this season to avenge a past encounter that still weighs on him.
In a previous game as a member of the Detroit Lions, he remembers how Rodgers, then with the Green Bay Packers, scored a touchdown against them, leaving a negative impression on Van Noy.
“I’d like to get him back,” Van Noy stated on NFL Network. “For whatever reason, the D-coordinator [Teryl Austin], who’s actually the D-coordinator of the Steelers, wanted to go Cover 0 all game against Aaron Rodgers. He caught us. We’re like, ‘Oh, we gotta run it.’ Ended up scoring a touchdown to Jordy Nelson. He ended up walking by and kind of tapped me on my butt, like, ‘Nice try.’ So I gotta get him back for that. That’s been there for 10 years.”
Van Noy had a remarkable average of one sack per start in the last season. If he maintains this impressive rate, he should manage to bring Rodgers down at least once this autumn.
Other defenders in the AFC North, such as former NFL Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett, are also setting their sights on Rodgers, indicating a highly competitive atmosphere for the quarterback.
