Angel Reese Achieves New Milestone in WNBA During Chicago Sky's Victory Against Los Angeles Sparks
Angel Reese made history by becoming the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 150 rebounds and 50 assists in a single season during a recent game.
Angel Reese continues to work on her offensive game during a sophomore slump, but Tuesday night’s win over the Los Angeles Sparks might serve as a much-needed confidence boost. Scoring 18 points, grabbing 17 rebounds, and delivering six assists, Reese made WNBA history by becoming the fastest player to hit 150 rebounds and 50 assists in a single season, according to Polymarket Hoops.
Earlier this month, Reese recorded her first career triple-double and also became the fastest player to score 500 points and gather 500 rebounds.
After Chicago’s first win in nine days, Reese was direct about her team’s determination to get back on track. She stated, “Just taking things day by day. Our coaches have done a good job. Tonight, we took it personal and knew our matchups … we have to celebrate our small wins. Tonight felt really good for us.”
The Sky faced a six-point deficit at halftime, but Reese helped ignite a second-half rally. She is currently averaging a double-double for the season across 13 games with 10.8 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game.
“We have to set the tone every single night,” Reese added. “We’ve let a lot of games slip away from us. We really wanted to win this one tonight.”
Kamilla Cardoso played a significant role, scoring a career-high 27 points as Chicago’s dominant duo claimed victory. First-year coach Tyler Marsh emphasized the need for consistent effort: “If we give the right level of effort, take care of the ball, and stay focused on our game plan, we’ll put ourselves in a good position.
With a season record of 4-10, the Sky currently hold the fourth-worst record in the WNBA, sitting 2.5 games behind the Washington Mystics in the Eastern Conference standings. Marsh is implementing a new offensive system after successfully serving as an assistant coach with the Las Vegas Aces. The team is adjusting to the transition as they seek to improve.
