Michael Jordan Rookie Card Fetches $2.5 Million at Auction
A rare autographed Michael Jordan rookie card breaks records by selling for $2.5 million, marking a significant milestone in sports memorabilia.
An autographed rookie card of Michael Jordan was sold for $2.5 million at an auction that concluded on Thursday.
The 1986-87 Fleer card, depicting Jordan in a classic pose, was sold via Joopiter, an auction platform established by Pharrell Williams, a Grammy-winning musical artist. This card is one of only nine that Jordan signed last year at his golf course in Florida.
According to ESPN, this purchase represents the highest amount ever paid for a Jordan rookie card, whether signed or unsigned, and stands as the third highest price for any Jordan card at a public auction. The current record for such sales is $2.928 million.
In March, an autographed Chicago Bulls jersey worn by Jordan during a preseason game in his rookie year was auctioned off for $4.215 million.
