Bojan Bogdanović Announces Retirement After Ten Years in the NBA

Bojan Bogdanović, the renowned forward, concludes his NBA career after battling a persistent foot injury, marking the end of a decade-long journey.

Former NBA forward Bojan Bogdanović has officially retired after a decade in the league, attributing his decision to ongoing foot injuries. The 6-foot-7 player most recently took the court for the New York Knicks in 2024. In a heartfelt letter shared on social media, Bogdanović stated, “Sometimes in life, you don’t choose the moment. The moment chooses you.” After facing 14 months of recovery, including two surgeries, he has decided it was time to conclude his chapter in professional basketball.

Bogdanović, 36, earned admiration for his shooting skills and capability to score effortlessly at various ranges throughout his career. Originally hailing from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bogdanović represented Croatia in international tournaments and was selected 31st overall by the Miami Heat in the 2011 NBA Draft, making his debut in 2014 with the Brooklyn Nets.

Throughout his career, he played for six different teams, including the Nets, Washington Wizards, Indiana Pacers, Utah Jazz, Detroit Pistons, and Knicks, consistently showcasing a smooth shooting style. With an average of 15.6 points per game over 719 career appearances, he maintained a shooting percentage of 39.4% from three-point range.

One of his standout seasons was in 2019-20 with the Jazz, where he averaged 20.2 points per game, solidifying his reputation as a top stretch forward. His performance peaked in the 2022-23 season with the Pistons, where he achieved an impressive 21.6 points per game while shooting 41.1% from beyond the arc.

Despite injury setbacks, Bogdanović departs the NBA as one of Europe’s most dependable scorers in recent history.
