Collin Sexton Moves to the Hornets in Trade with Jazz

Collin Sexton is set to join the Charlotte Hornets as part of a trade that sees Jusuf Nurkić move to the Utah Jazz along with a future draft pick.

The Utah Jazz have traded guard Collin Sexton along with a 2030 second-round pick to the Charlotte Hornets, bringing in big man Jusuf Nurkić. This move, announced on Sunday, marks Sexton’s transition to his third NBA team.

Sexton, aged 26, recorded an average of 18.4 points, 4.2 assists, and 2.7 rebounds during the past season with the Jazz. Following Utah’s selection of Rutgers standout Ace Bailey and All-American guard Walter Clayton Jr earlier this week in the draft, it became more plausible for the Jazz to consider trading either Sexton or guard Jordan Clarkson, thereby creating additional space for rookie talent.

The Hornets obtained Nurkić, 30, from the Phoenix Suns during the previous season’s trade deadline. In the swap, the Suns received Nurkić alongside a 2026 first-round pick, trading away Cody Martin, Vasilije Micic, and a 2026 second-round pick. Nurkić appeared in merely 25 games for Phoenix last season prior to his transfer to Charlotte.

Summarily, Nurkić played in 51 games combined for Charlotte and Phoenix, averaging 8.9 points and 7.8 rebounds. Over his career, he boasts averages of 11.8 points and 8.8 rebounds while shooting 50.1% from the field.
