Dallas Mavericks Sign Cooper Flagg to $62.7 Million Deal
The Mavericks officially secured top draft pick Cooper Flagg on a lucrative four-year contract, marking a significant milestone in his career.
The Dallas Mavericks have signed the first overall pick from the draft, Cooper Flagg, to a four-year rookie contract.
The team announced the deal but did not provide specific figures. It’s reported that the total value of the contract could reach up to $62.7 million, with the first year’s salary set at approximately $13.8 million, subject to slight variations.
Options are included for the team for the third and fourth years of the rookie contracts.

During his introductory press conference, Flagg expressed his eagerness to participate in the Summer League in Las Vegas later this month. The Mavericks’ Summer League opener against the Los Angeles Lakers featuring Bronny James will be broadcast nationally on July 10.
Flagg was selected first after the Mavericks pulled off a stunning 1.8% chance to win the draft lottery. The 18-year-old Duke product became the fourth freshman ever to receive the Associated Press national player of the year award in the award’s 64-year history, leading the Blue Devils to the Final Four in his only collegiate season.
The 6-foot-9 forward joins a frontcourt that is expected to include 10-time All-Star Anthony Davis and promising young center Dereck Lively II, a fellow Duke alum. Recently, the Mavericks made headlines by trading 25-year-old superstar Luka Doncic to the Lakers in exchange for Davis in February.
Dallas guard Kyrie Irving, another Duke standout, was the first overall pick in the 2011 draft but is currently sidelined following surgery to repair a torn ACL — an injury he sustained in March.
