Sacramento Kings Strengthen Roster with Jonas Valanciunas Acquisition from Washington Wizards
The Sacramento Kings have acquired center Jonas Valanciunas from the Washington Wizards in a significant trade.
The Washington Wizards are trading center Jonas Valanciunas to the Sacramento Kings for forward Sidy Cissoko and two second-round draft picks, as reported by ESPN on Wednesday.
Valanciunas, primarily coming off Washington’s bench, is averaging 11.5 points and 8.2 rebounds in just 20.1 minutes per game this season.
At 32 years old, Valanciunas is in the first season of a three-year, $30.3 million deal. Before this season, he played for three seasons with the New Orleans Pelicans, two-plus seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies, and six-plus seasons with the Toronto Raptors.
Sacramento’s trade comes shortly after they sent star guard De’Aaron Fox to the San Antonio Spurs in a three-team deal with the Chicago Bulls in which they acquired notable player Zach LaVine. Sacramento also took on Cissoko in this recent trade.
Currently, the Kings hold a record of 25-24, landing them in the eighth seed in the Western Conference.
