Nebraska honors him as one of the most accomplished scorers in their history, ranking in the top 20 for both career points (1,223) and starts (105).
Florence’s impact on the team was significant as he helped guide them to multiple postseason tournaments during his four years as a starter, including a notable appearance in the NCAA Tournament during his sophomore year. In his words, he expressed a desire to continue living for his family and friends, stating, “I want to live… I want to be here for my daughter, my family and friends and enjoy life. I don’t want to just give up.”
Concluding his collegiate career as Nebraska’s leading scorer in the 1999-2000 season, he transitioned into coaching youth basketball after a professional stint overseas.
