AFC West Projections for 2025 NFL Season: Expert Insights on Win Totals

A comprehensive breakdown of over/under predictions by expert Jimmie Kaylor for the NFL's AFC West teams ahead of the 2025 season.

The countdown to the 2025 NFL season is officially on. The regular season kicks off with the 2025 NFL Kickoff Game featuring the Dallas Cowboys against the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday, September 4. While the season opener is still a few weeks away, the rosters are starting to take shape, and sportsbooks have begun accepting bets on NFL futures.

In 2024, the AFC West established itself as one of the toughest divisions in the league. Three teams – the Kansas City Chiefs, Denver Broncos, and Los Angeles Chargers – made it to the playoffs, with the Chiefs clinching their fifth AFC Championship in six years. Heading into the new season, the AFC West is poised to be one of the deepest divisions in the NFL again.

SportsLine expert analyst Jimmie Kaylor has evaluated the most recent betting trends and NFL futures odds, locking in his top over/under win total picks for all four AFC West teams. It’s advisable to consider Kaylor’s insights before making any NFL futures bets. Additionally, new users can benefit from a BetMGM promo code that offers up to $1,500 in bonus bets if their first bet does not succeed.

Kaylor recorded a 55-34-4 mark on NFL point spread and over/under picks throughout the 2024 season, earning a profit of 15.78 units ($1,578 for a $100 bettor).

Here are Kaylor’s win total predictions for all four AFC West teams in 2025:

  • Denver Broncos over 9.5 wins (-105)
  • Kansas City Chiefs over 10.5 wins (-180)
  • Las Vegas Raiders under 7.5 wins (-135)
  • Los Angeles Chargers over 9.5 wins (-110)

Denver Broncos over 9.5 wins (-105 at DraftKings)

The Broncos surprised many in the NFL during 2024. With a formidable defense and rookie quarterback Bo Nix, Denver secured 10 victories. Head coach Sean Payton is among the most successful coaches of this era, and the Broncos have made several key offseason acquisitions that strengthen their roster further. This team is anticipated to have a top-five defense and a solid offense. I project the Broncos to finish with 10 wins for the second consecutive season, but there are a few critical matchups that could elevate that total.

Kansas City Chiefs over 10.5 wins (-180 at DraftKings)

The Chiefs racked up 15 regular season victories last year, and while I doubt they can replicate that feat, I still expect them to surpass 10.5 wins comfortably. Patrick Mahomes remains the NFL’s elite quarterback, which alone could secure several narrow victories. The Chiefs enhanced their offensive line this offseason and have assembled a strong lineup of pass catchers, including Travis Kelce, Hollywood Brown, Xavier Worthy, Rashee Rice, and Jalen Royals. I conservatively estimate Kansas City will end up with 12 wins this coming season.

Las Vegas Raiders under 7.5 wins (-135 at BetMGM)

The Raiders are transitioning under Pete Carroll’s leadership and are expected to improve in 2025. Brock Bowers is regarded as one of the league’s top tight ends, and rookie running back Ashton Jeanty adds a dynamic playmaking element to the offense. Quarterback Geno Smith offers more stability than former quarterbacks Gardner Minshew and Aidan O’Connell. While I do not anticipate the Raiders competing for the division title, I believe they will show significant improvement in 2025. I currently project them to secure six or seven wins.

Los Angeles Chargers over 9.5 wins (-110 at FanDuel)

In 2024, the Chargers achieved an 11-6 record in Jim Harbaugh’s inaugural season. I foresee a similar outcome in 2025. The Chargers made solid roster improvements to align with Harbaugh’s preferred physical style of play, with quarterback Justin Herbert being one of the most talented passers in NFL history. I project the Chargers to complete the regular season with a 10-7 record. New users can utilize the FanDuel promo code for additional benefits.
