Pop-Tarts Bowl Goes Global: Edible Mascots to Join Iowa State and Kansas State in Ireland
The Pop-Tarts Bowl will feature its iconic edible mascots in Dublin, marking a unique season opener for college football.
The Pop-Tarts Bowl has revealed that its two “surviving” mascots from last year’s event will be flown to Dublin, Ireland, for the Aer Lingus College Football Classic at Aviva Stadium. The mascots, Frosted Wild Berry and Frosted Hot Fudge Sundae, will accompany Iowa State and Kansas State, the past two champions, as they partake in the first match of the college football season scheduled for August 23.
The mascots have captured the hearts of college football fans and have become a staple of the Pop-Tarts Bowl, which features a unique tradition where one of the mascots is placed in a giant toaster and enjoyed by the winning team at the conclusion of the game.
“The Pop-Tarts Edible Mascots work tirelessly to fulfill their dreams of being eaten, so we agreed they deserved a vacation to watch the previous Pop-Tarts Bowl winners play in Ireland,” said Leslie Serro, VP of Marketing for Sweet Snacking.
The Aer Lingus College Football Classic is set to be a prominent Week 0 game for the fourth consecutive year. Past matches have included Northwestern vs. Nebraska in 2022, Notre Dame vs. Navy in 2023, and Georgia Tech vs. Florida State in 2024. Both Kansas State and Iowa State are anticipated to be strong contenders in the Big 12 conference next season.
