A'ja Wilson's Injury Update: Aces MVP Questionable for Mystics Game Following MRI

A'ja Wilson, the star of the Las Vegas Aces and three-time WNBA MVP, suffers a wrist injury but hopes for a quick recovery.

A’ja Wilson, the star of the Las Vegas Aces, suffered a right wrist injury during her team’s recent game against the New York Liberty, which ended in an 87-78 loss. However, it appears she has avoided any severe injury after undergoing an MRI.

After the MRI results came in, Wilson was listed as questionable for the upcoming game against the Washington Mystics.

On social media, she relayed some encouraging news about her MRI:

“Welp! Nothing wakes you up like the sound of an MRI machine lol! But just wanna say thank you for all prayers! NYL thank you sooooo much for the quick help and privacy I truly appreciate it. To my squad thank you for preventing my crash out lol! God has a plan that I’ll never question. We are gonna be alright!”

Late in the second quarter, Wilson took an unfortunate fall after being fouled by Leonie Fiebich. She attempted to brace her fall but landed hard, leaving her teammates and medical staff rushing to her side. To continue playing, she shot free throws to ensure she could stay in the game, but ultimately, she left the court shortly before halftime.

During the intermission, Wilson returned to the bench in civilian clothes, sporting a significant wrap on her wrist, sparking hopes that she might not be sidelined for an extended period. The Aces, who currently stand at 9-10 and are desperate for a turnaround in their disappointing season, hope that Wilson’s injury is not grave.

Earlier in the season, Wilson managed to maintain her stellar performance with averages of 21.9 points, nine rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.8 steals, and 2.6 blocks, marking her as a leading player in multiple categories.

Upcoming games for the Aces include matches against the Washington Mystics on Thursday, the Golden State Valkyries on July 12, and the Dallas Wings on July 16 just before the All-Star break.
