Baseball’s finest prospects showcased their abilities in the 2025 Futures Game held at Truist Park, where the National League emerged victorious over the American League with a score of NL 4, AL 2. For this annual showcase, the NL now holds a 4-1-1 edge in the all-time series.
The American League initially took the lead with a couple of small-ball tactics, scoring twice in the early innings. However, the National League regained the upper hand thanks to a three-run homer by Josue De Paula, who was recognized as the game’s MVP with his impressive hit that traveled 416 feet and hit at an exit velocity of 108.5 mph. De Paula, the 13th best prospect in the league, has made a significant impact in the High Class-A this season.
Another notable performance was that of Jurrangelo Cijntje, a true switch-pitcher for the Seattle Mariners, who managed to strike out players using both left and right pitching styles, demonstrating unique abilities on the mound.
George Lombard Jr. also made his mark by scoring the game’s first run through quick base running, while Konnor Griffin needed attention after a fastball hit his wrist but was later confirmed fine by his father, assuring fans of his health.
As the festivities continue, this year’s Futures Game sets the tone for the upcoming All-Star events, leading up to the Draft and the Home Run Derby.
