U.S. Men's National Team Set to Compete Against Australia and Ecuador in October Matches
The U.S. Men's National Soccer Team has scheduled friendly matches against Australia and Ecuador this October as part of their preparations for the upcoming World Cup.
The U.S. men’s national team has outlined its pre-World Cup schedule clearly. The U.S. Soccer Federation recently revealed that coach Mauricio Pochettino will lead the squad in friendly matches against Australia and Ecuador this October.
Both games are set to take place in the United States, with the U.S. confronting Ecuador on October 10 at Q2 Stadium in Austin, Texas. Four days later, they will meet the Socceroos in Commerce City, Colorado.
In addition to the upcoming matches, the U.S. will also face South Korea and Japan in September, showcasing four FIFA Top-25 teams before the World Cup. Each of these teams has qualified for the next World Cup, co-hosted by the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
Following these matches, the team will have dual FIFA fixture windows available in November and March before selecting the final roster for the World Cup. It is anticipated that there will be two additional pre-World Cup matches leading up to the tournament kickoff in Los Angeles on June 12.
Ecuador, the 25th-ranked team, has already secured its World Cup berth and is captained by Moises Caicedo, who plays for Chelsea. The American side boasts a historical record with Ecuador comprising five wins, five losses, and five draws across 15 encounters, with their last match occurring in 2016 during the Copa América Centenario.
The last matchup against Australia took place in 2010, resulting in a 3-1 victory for the U.S. in South Africa.
Tickets for the upcoming games are available, starting at $35 for the Australia match and $45 for the Ecuador match, with sales opening to the general public on July 18.
