USC's JuJu Watkins: Potential Future Face of WNBA
According to an anonymous poll, JuJu Watkins of USC is perceived as a strong candidate to become the face of the WNBA in five years.
USC standout JuJu Watkins is already being considered by WNBA players as a potential face of the league five years down the line. This was revealed in an anonymous poll conducted by The Athletic this week.
“Just look at the presence she already has in college,” an anonymous player remarked.
Out of 39 players from all 13 teams (excluding rookies), many believed in Watkins’ potential. Players could not vote for their teammates but could give multiple answers.
Caitlin Clark, the clear favorite, acquired about 53.8% of the votes, while Watkins garnered 17.9%.
Watkins, who is only a rising junior, is not eligible for the WNBA Draft until 2027 and will miss substantial time next season due to an ACL injury. Despite this setback, interest in her remains strong as she set the NCAA Division I freshman scoring record during the 2023-2024 season with 920 points, contributing significantly to USC reaching the Elite Eight for the first time since 1994.
The future remains hopeful for the WNBA with great talents like JuJu Watkins making their mark.
