Napoli's Quest for European Dominance: The Next Steps After Serie A Triumph

After clinching the 2024-25 Serie A title, Napoli now seeks to assert their presence on the European football stage under Antonio Conte's guidance.

The 2024-25 season concluded triumphantly for Napoli, marking their fourth Scudetto in history during Antonio Conte’s first year at the helm. They engaged in an intense title chase against Inter, ultimately securing victory on the final day. Despite some challenges, Conte’s leadership shone as he became the first manager to win Italy’s top league title with three different clubs: Juventus, Inter, and now Napoli.

Despite the allure of a potential return to Juventus, Conte chose to remain with Napoli after discussions with club president Aurelio De Laurentiis, who assured him of further signings ahead of the 2025-26 season. This decision underscores Conte’s ambition to achieve more with Napoli and potentially expand their reach into European competitions.

Although Conte is celebrated for his domestic success, he has yet to achieve glory on the international stage. His previous teams have often advanced to critical matches shortly after his departure. Can he shift Napoli into a team that competes and succeeds on European soil?

This past season, Napoli’s project faced a setback with the departure of star player Kvicha Kvaratskhelia to PSG for approximately $75 million. Many questioned Napoli’s decision to delay replacing Kvaratskhelia until the summer. However, they later signed Noa Lang from PSV as his successor, a move that was well-received.

In preparation for their upcoming seasons, Napoli has also made significant signings. They secured Kevin De Bruyne—a star free agent from Manchester City, aiming to elevate their performance in the Champions League. These additions signal Napoli’s intent to establish themselves both locally and in international competitions.

In contrast, their rivals are undergoing coaching changes and rebuilding their teams. For instance, AC Milan has brought in Massimiliano Allegri while Roma changed managers, highlighting the dynamic nature of the league.

Overall, Napoli appears poised to replicate its domestic success on a European stage.
