DeWanna Bonner Reflects on Her Journey with No Regrets After Chaotic Fervor Exit and Return to Mercury

After a tumultuous exit from the Indiana Fever, WNBA star DeWanna Bonner expresses no regrets about her return to the Phoenix Mercury, attributing her journey to her current position.

DeWanna Bonner left the Indiana Fever earlier this summer in a tumultuous exit and eventually reunited with the Phoenix Mercury, the franchise where she won two WNBA championships during her first decade. The saga that marked the end of her time with the Fever featured an extended absence and uncertainty regarding her future.

Bonner was released on June 25, and she missed the last two weeks in Indiana for personal reasons, which included potential considerations of retirement. “I wouldn’t do anything differently,” Bonner reflected while traveling with the Mercury. “My journey is my journey, and I’m going to accept that. It brought me back to Phoenix for a reason.”

As the WNBA’s second-oldest active player, Bonner is the third leading scorer in league history. She is recognized for her experience, being a player with significant playoff credentials. With her trade to Phoenix, Bonner is set to compete against her former team in an upcoming match.
