UConn Women’s Basketball Unveils Exciting Nonconference Schedule for 2025

The UConn Huskies, reigning national champions, reveal their nonconference lineup for the 2025 season with highly anticipated matchups including Notre Dame.

As the women’s college basketball offseason drags on, anticipation builds for the upcoming 2025-26 season. A significant milestone was reached this week as teams began to announce their nonconference schedules.

The UConn Huskies, coming off a national championship, unveiled their nonconference opponents. Coach Geno Auriemma has secured several notable rivalries for his team ahead of what is expected to be a relatively easy Big East schedule.

The Huskies will launch their season on October 13 with an exhibition against Boston College, followed by their first regular season game against Louisville on November 4, which will take place at Ramstein Airbase, Germany, as part of the Armed Forces Classic.

UConn’s schedule features six matchups against teams in the top 25 based on CBS Sports’ early power rankings, although they will not face other key title contenders such as South Carolina, UCLA, Texas, or LSU.

Key Matchups to Watch

November 4 vs. Louisville

Under Jeff Walz, Louisville has become a competitive program despite losing seven players from last year’s NCAA squad. This opener will put UConn’s new roster to the test, particularly without star player Paige Bueckers.

January 19 vs. Notre Dame

This matchup features a fierce rivalry, although Notre Dame’s recent struggles raise questions about their competitiveness. Despite uncertainties and a roster overhaul, coach Niele Ivey aims to keep the rivalry alive as they face UConn, a team they’ve bested in recent encounters.

February 1 vs. Tennessee

Once a storied rivalry, the encounters between UConn and Tennessee have seen fluctuating fortunes. The return match promises excitement, especially after Tennessee’s surprising win over UConn last February.

Fans eagerly await what these contests will reveal as the season approaches.
