TBT 2025 Semifinals Summary: Aftershocks and Eberlein Drive Reach the Final

A recap of the thrilling semifinals of The Basketball Tournament 2025, where Aftershocks and Eberlein Drive secured their spots in the championship game.

The field of The Basketball Tournament is down to the last two competitors, with a $1 million winner-take-all reward at stake!

Earlier in the semifinals, Eberlein Drive triumphed over West Virginia’s alumni team, Best Virginia. Subsequently, the alumni team from Wichita State, Aftershocks, overcame We Are D3 to secure a place in the championship this Sunday.

Aftershocks 66, We Are D3 54

The match began competitively, but Aftershocks surged ahead in the second quarter, scoring 21 points compared to We Are D3’s five. They led at halftime, 35-17. We Are D3 attempted a comeback in the third quarter, narrowing the gap to 47-38 by the fourth quarter, but Aftershocks’ talent proved too overwhelming in the end.

James Woodard was the standout player for Aftershocks with 12 points, while Ty Nichols led all scorers with 14 points for We Are D3.

Eberlein Drive 85, Best Virginia 77

In a closely contested game, Eberlein Drive maintained a slight lead at 21-18 after the first quarter. Best Virginia ignited a scoring spree in the second quarter to take a 40-37 halftime advantage, with Terry Taylor and Toby Okani both scoring 10 points.

Eberlein Drive refocused in the third quarter, leading by three points heading into the final quarter (64-61). The game tightened with a score of 77-75 entering the Elam Ending—a method where the game clock is stopped in the fourth quarter, and a target score is set. Gabe York emerged as the hero, putting his team ahead with key 3-pointers, ultimately leading to his 25-point performance, the highest of the game.
